Like Glass

Like glass
Not the fragile kind
But the age worn panes
Capable of curves
And human hands.
The most disciplined,
Complex elements of the earth
Still able to peer through
The distortion to see
What we want to see
And have it all come true.
Concrete blocks and alloyed metals
Stand no chance.
For this melted sand
Has endured the breath of ages.
1,000 lifetimes to make it strong
If we cling to it
It becomes a song,
And if we trust it
We can carry on.

Dreams of Slumber

Dreams of Slumber

Oh sleep,
Why do you deprive me?
Golden parachutes
Abound but untimely.
Impeccable beauty
But such terrible timing.
Necessary caffeine
To keep the heart pounding.

Dreams come on slow
And are hard to remember.
Heart strong with weakened hands
I forget my slumber.
Disingenuous state of being,
I'd rather reality be my only reason
To cast off and find
Myself in all corners of the world.

My home is far and not where
I now rest my mind.
This is temporary until my heart can find
The mat behind the door
That reads welcome,
I'm forever yours.

Sky Travel

Looking down, clouds resemble

The sands of the Sahara.

Sweeping effortlessly, weightless.

No sand dunes in this night sky.

A satellite passes by.

 Approaching a new barrier

We've moved beyond sound.

Light is no different.

We must see past it's bounds

To travel the mind,

The highway we all share.

Thoughts all surround us

Like capillary roads.

Not a depository

Not all for ourselves.

Consciousness weaves

Its thread of you and me,

Physical bodies a formality

A terminal to discovery

That we can unbind

The reasons for humans

The meaning of time.

To navigate the multiverse

All bosons must align

With the swiftness of a miracle

The power of one mind.

After there is no wonder

No reason to believe.

Infinity to cower

Affinity to pass

For truly what are answers when

Questions we no longer need ask?

Haikus #1 - Earth Life

Morning, cascade sun

Never trust a bloated winter

Rain instead of snow

Trees still unwilling

But it’s time to be alone

Let your babies go

Clouds fill carmel sky

Too fucked for baby blue

Why not let her die?

Blind water towers

Are diamonds in a wasteland

Industrial gods

Crescent moon slumbers

Toxic glowing fireflies

Our only night sky

I’m sick of silence.

It never moves.

Stagnant enterprise with unbreachable walls,

and now nothing...

Hopeless and fake, subtly screaming

for the core to stay in place.

Then a crash, a tumble, a tear, a break;

all noiseless constants of an inner world,

and terrestrial motions spin spirals

through endless corridors, finalizing

in a nine month marathon.

Silence has never sounded so smooth.

Leafless trees and a moon so full.

#6 Lyric

My words do me no justice,

a philosopher

with no knowledge

in his bed.

Inspired again?

Nothing new, my arc,

it’s missing.

Time to sleep.

My dreams percolate

lost entity of belief,

and the wind blows:

gravity’s arm lifting

me from the ground

placing me gently, back

on acid trails

amidst candy dried sound.

Patiently I wait

counting days like seconds.
